Three Proclamations Planned for Thursday Pocatello City Council Meeting

Pocatello City Council Chambers

Three health-focused proclamations are on the agenda for Thursday’s Pocatello City Council meeting.

First, Mayor Brian Blad will proclaim March 2020 to be “National Athletic Training Month” in the Gate City. The edict highlights athletic trainers’ contributions to health care and their work “providing quality health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity.” Additionally, it encourages “all citizens to learn more about the importance of athletic training.” The proclamation will be read by Councilman Rick Cheatum and accepted by Elene Adler, athletic training student at Idaho State University on behalf of the Idaho Athletic Trainers’ Association.

Second will be a proclamation setting March 11 as Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day. The edict will be read by Councilwoman Chris Stevens and urges “all citizens to recognize the contributions of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and express appreciation for their commitment to promoting science-based nutrition in the hope of achieving optimum health for both today and tomorrow.” The proclamation will be accepted by Jennifer Reader with Pocatello Dieticians.

The third proclamation on the agenda will also establish March as National Nutrition Month in Pocatello. Read by Councilwoman Claudia Ortega, the edict encourages “all citizens to join the campaign and become concerned about their nutrition and the nutrition of others.” Ms. Reader will also accept this proclamation.

Thursday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
