Property and Evidence

The Property and Evidence section is responsible for the proper storage, preservation, and lawful release or disposal of all items collected by the Pocatello Police Department for found property, safekeeping, evidence, or destruction. Items presented in court cannot be released until the court process is completed.

The Property and Evidence section is located inside the Pocatello Police Department at 911 N 7th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.

Evidence technicians are available by appointment Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The office is closed on holidays and weekends.

Appointments Required

Please contact the Property and Evidence section at 208-234-6125 or 208-234-6133 to schedule an appointment with an evidence technician to retrieve your property. Without an appointment, your property may not be released.

Property NOT Released Without Proper Authorization

To retrieve your property, you must bring a valid government-issued photo identification and report number in addition to any paperwork that was sent to you (ie. court order).

Having a Designee Retrieve Your Property

If you would like another person to pick up property on your behalf, you must complete the Owner Authorization Form (PDF), have it notarized, and ensure your designee is present to retrieve the property. That individual must call the Property and Evidence section to schedule an appointment.

Firearms Release Procedure

If one or more of your firearms were seized by the Pocatello Police, you will need to submit a completed Seized Weapons Affidavit (PDF) before any firearm will be released.  Please call the Property and Evidence section with any questions.
