  1. WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN RUNNING FOR OFFICE FOR THE CITY OF POCATELLO?

Many people encouraged me or pleaded with me to run again. The following reasons were given for why I should seek reelection. They are ranked in the order of the importance I value them.

    • People consistently tell me I am the person who most advocates for the many people in our community who struggle to survive
    • Regularly I was told I represent a voice of reason and fairness on our council
    • Others depicted me as the champion for taxpayers
    • Finally observers of our Council meetings underscored the experience and knowledge they perceive I draw upon in preparing for and engaging in Council meetings
After being subjected to words filled with this type of encouragement, heartfelt requests, and observations as objective analysis; I knew that I still had much to offer to all of Pocatello. My commitment is to honor these assessments and uphold these characterizations.

  2. IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS THE MAJOR ISSUE FACING POCATELLO?

To lower our taxes and become a true University Town!

A true University Town is where the economy of Pocatello gains an even greater benefit from the University, and where Faculty and Students gain greater educational opportunities in the community.

The city and businesses must learn to rely more on the contributions faculty and students can make in their work and operations. ISU can help us understand the benefits of LOWER TAXES and help us find ways in which this can be accomplished.

    (a)  HOW WOULD YOU ADDRESS THE ISSUE YOU JUST DESCRIBED?

    • We must appreciate the collaboration potential we have with the ISU faculty and students. We must increase our reliance upon the expertise of the University. Endeavors like the Tax Increment Financing District, established for the North Gate Development, must be thoroughly vetted academically. Despite what some have said, ISU should have been contacted to lead a study identifying positive and negative impacts on Pocatello taxpayers in the short and long term.  This was too vital of an issue for us to turn aside the thoroughness of academic research.
    • We enhance our relationship to students most by creating intern positions, work study positions, and recruiting them to do academic projects for the city and businesses
    • Lower taxes makes college more affordable, and helps stimulate the creation of good paying jobs for graduates of all ISU programs
    • Better job opportunities will help address our low per capita income problems here in Pocatello
  3. IF ELECTED, WHAT WILL YOUR FIRST PRIORITY BE?

My priority is, and will continue to be, to put the people of Pocatello first!
