Sisters to Serve as Next Mayors for a Day

A pair of sisters will be at the helm of the City of Pocatello next week.

On April 25, siblings Amaia and Mila Gabiola will serve as the City’s latest Mayors for a Day. Amaia is an eighth grader while Mila is a fifth grader at Holy Spirit Catholic School. During their term, the sisters will see how Mayor Brian Blad leads the City of Pocatello on a day-to-day basis. Also on the schedule are meetings with Pocatello Animal Services Director Rhett Nicks and Marshall Public Library Director Eric Suess.

Mayors for a Day Gabiolas’ joint term will wrap up that afternoon.

During the school year, a new Mayor for a Day is selected from the city’s middle and high schools once a month. The selection is made by the school and a different school is represented each month.
