The first Mayor for a Day in 2017 will be coming from Pocatello’s first high school.
January 20, Pocatello High School junior Kate Jackman will be the City’s Chief Executive. Active in school politics, she serves her fellow students as the class vice president. She also plays soccer and basketball and is enrolled in many of the school’s honors courses.
During Jackman’s term, she will be meeting with leaders from around the community and the City’s departments. Currently, on the schedule are meetings with Lynn Transtrum, Building Official and Dave Hunt, Director of Pocatello Regional Transit.
Students chosen to serve as a Mayor for a Day are selected by the school and a different school is represented each month.
