Flag Committee Recruits Experts for Narrowing Down Process

The City of Pocatello’s Flag Design Ad-Hoc Committee will be getting a bit of expert help.

Saturday, January 21 at 9 a.m. at Pocatello City Hall, will see the committee bring together experts on design, art, advertising, and history from around the nation to help the City’s effort to raise a new flag for Pocatello. During the meeting, the experts will go about selecting flags, as well as making recommendations for changes, that will be brought back to the public for their input.

“As a committee, we wanted to get a wide range of opinions,” said Logan McDougall, Flag Design Ad-Hoc Committee Chair. “While there is an emphasis on those well versed in design, we wanted to make sure we understand the historical implications of the designs, how they function as a piece of art, and how they tell the story of our city to the rest of the world.

More than 700 designs were accepted as entries into the contest to design Pocatello’s new flag. Participants in the effort represent 31 states and 26 countries.
