Pocatello is checking in at third among its peers in a new report from the Human Rights Campaign. According to the “Municipal Equality Index” which “examines how inclusive municipal laws, policies, and services are of the LGBTQ people who live and work there,” the Gate City scored a 59. The score puts Pocatello just behind the state’s leader, Coeur d’Alene which checked in with a 62 and Boise which scored a 61. “Pocatello is home to people from all walks of life and I’m proud of the fact that as a City we are and continue to be a welcoming place for all our residents,” said Mayor Brian Blad. The report measured the municipalities across five categories including non-discrimination laws, municipal services, the municipality as an employer, law enforcement, and the relationship with the LGBTQ community.
