A piece of East Idaho’s prehistoric past will say hello to travelers at Pocatello Regional Airport.
Recently, the Idaho Museum of Natural History agreed to loan a display of Giant Bison skull to the airport. The roughly 7 foot-wide exhibit is stationed near the baggage claim and includes information about the ancient animal that roamed the Snake River Plain more than 100,000 years ago.
“This skull was found in the 1950s along the shore of American Falls Reservoir,” said Dr. Leif Tapanila, Idaho Museum of Natural History Director. “In fact, this is one of the best preserved specimens in the world.”
“We’d like to thank Dr. Tapanila and everyone at the Idaho Museum of Natural History for their generosity,” said David Allen, Pocatello Regional Airport Manager. “The exhibit is certainly eye-catching and is just another of the ways we continue to improve the traveler’s experience at Pocatello Regional Airport.”
