Players who took part in the 2015/16 season of Junior Jazz basketball are invited to meet a professional player from the National Basketball Association’s Utah Jazz.
Monday, August 1 at 5:30 p.m., Forward Chris Johnson is scheduled to stop by the main gym at Pocatello High School, 325 North Arthur Avenue. At the meet and greet, players will hear about his experience in the NBA, ask their questions about his career, and have a chance to get autographs. The first 100 attendees will receive a free pair of Utah Jazz socks.
“We’d like to thank the Utah Jazz organization and Chris for coming up and spending some time with our players,” said Brian Lowman, Recreation Supervisor for the City of Pocatello. “For many, it’ll be the first time they will meet a professional player and I’m sure it will be a special experience for these players.”
The 2015/16 season was the first year the City partnered with the Junior Jazz program. The league consists of children ranging from third grade to seventh grade and roughly 1,200 children participated in the inaugural season. In addition to the chance to meet a Jazz player, participants also received a Jazz team picture, a participation certificate, and membership identification card.
