Pocatello Neighborhood & Community Services Division Seeks Resident Input

Pocatello

The City of Pocatello Neighborhood & Community Services Division wants your help planning their work for the next five years. The division is taking input from residents via an online survey to help create the City’s 2017-2021 Consolidated Plan. The document is a requirement of the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development and helps create the framework for how the City will spend its share of Community Development Block Grant funds. “In past years, we have used the funding to address affordable housing issues, to purchase property for our partners to build on, and offered a home rehab program for low and moderate income homeowners,” said Melanie Gygli, Neighborhood & Community Services Division Manager. “We’ve also used it extensively for sidewalk rehabilitation and construction.” Surveys will be accepted through July 31 and takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The questionnaire touches on a variety of topics including residents’ housing situations, opinions on community improvement, and other demographic characteristics. “The more information we can get, the better we can serve residents,” Gygli said. “It allows us to direct the funds to the projects that reflect what the community needs and helps provide the City Council with the information they need as well.” The survey can be found at research.net/r/Pocatello2016 and hard copies of the survey are available at City Hall. More information on the efforts of the Neighborhood & Community Services Division can be found at pocatello.us/339/Neighborhood-Community-Services.
