A pair of proclamations are set to be read at Thursday’s Pocatello City Council meeting.
The first is scheduled to be read by Council President Steve Brown and proclaims June 2016 to be “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” The proclamation serves to “recognize the many contributions general aviation and the Pocatello Regional Airport make to our community and surrounding areas.”
The edict was requested by the Alliance for Aviation Across America and will be accepted by representatives from Pocatello Regional Airport and AvCenter, Inc.
The second will be read by Councilman Roger Bray and establishes June 27, 2016 as “ASK Day.” The proclamation “encourages parents to add one more safety question to conversations before their child visits other homes, ‘Is there an unlocked gun in your house?’”
The “ASK Day” proclamation was requested by the Asking Saves Kids Campaign, and their local representative Rusty Lish.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
