If you missed out on the Portneuf River Gathering/Walk, you still have a chance to enjoy a portion of the event.
Thirteen temporary sculptures were placed along the river and Portneuf Greenway Trail for the occasion. The fleeting pieces of art are constructed with vines, willows, pine cones, rocks and more and will disappear as they succumb to the elements.
“We’d like to thank everyone who attended the Gathering and Walk,” said Hannah Sanger, Science and Environment Division Manager. “We heard stories about growing up in Pocatello along the river, the flood, swimming in the Portneuf before the concrete channel, and others. It was an inspiring experience and we’d like to invite those who were unable to attend to be a part of the conversation by engaging with the river through art.”
Many of the pieces were installed along the river between Centennial Park and the green bridge at Halliday Street. Others can be found at Memorial Park and Raymond Park. Residents can also view photos of the art online at river.pocatello.us.
