A look into the finances of the City of Pocatello for Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 is now available to the public.
Recently, the City’s Finance Department released its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and the Citizen’s Financial Report for the previous fiscal year. The reports offer details into the City’s financial situation two different ways.
“The CAFR is created for accountants by accountants,” said Joyce Stroschein, Chief Financial Officer. “The document is close to 200 pages long and is used primarily by finance professionals to assess the City’s creditworthiness. On the other hand, the Citizen’s Financial Report is only 23 pages and is created so that all citizens can get an understanding of the City’s financial health.”
Last year, the Finance Department was honored by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the FY 2014 CAFR. The City was awarded the Certificate of Achievement, the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental and financial reporting. 2014 was the 11th year in a row that the department received the Certificate of Achievement.
In March, the City also released its annual Service Level Report which provides residents with an overview of City operations and services performed in FY 2015.
