Next week, residents may see a contractor working in their water meter boxes.
The company, Concord Utility Services, will be working to replace approximately 2,400 Electronic Radio Transmitters (ERT) that have components that may prematurely fail. The vendor for the ERTs, Itron, Inc., is providing the new ERTs and covering all costs associated with their installation as part of a warranty replacement. The City will bear no cost for their replacement.
“If the ERT fails, it would not impact the reading on the meter,” said Cindy Robbins, Utility Billing Director for the City of Pocatello. “The failure would only affect how City employees would obtain the meter reading. We would have to switch from electronically to manually reading them.”
Concord Utility Services crews will have proper identification such as, a logo on the outside of their vehicle along with employees wearing orange shirts and blue hats with the same logo.
The work is tentatively scheduled to begin May 2 and be completed by May 7 but due to unforeseen circumstances, the schedule may be adjusted.
Residents with questions are invited to contact the Utility Billing Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 234-6241 during office hours. Office hours are staffed Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
