Local eighth-grader Taylor Eddie has been chosen to lead the City of Pocatello as March’s Mayor for a Day.
Eddie, a student at Alameda Middle School, was nominated for the post by staff at her school. School employees expressed that Taylor would be a good fit for the role because of her involvement in school activities, her volunteer efforts at local non-profits like The Idaho Foodbank, and her cheerful personality. Mayor for a Day Eddie’s term will begin the morning of March 14 and end that afternoon.
“Taylor obviously has a willingness to help and serve others,” said Mayor Brian Blad. “City government and all the City departments exist solely to serve the residents of Pocatello and I hope to show Taylor what it takes to do that on a day to day basis.”
A new Mayor for a Day is selected from among Pocatello’s middle and high school students each month. The Mayor for a Day is chosen by the school and a different school is represented every month.
