The City of Pocatello Parks and Recreation Department will soon be making a switch to new recreation management software that’ll be easier on residents and staff.
Starting the morning of January 13, the department will begin utilizing Peak Software Inc.’s “SportsMan” software to manage department programs and online registration for participants. John Banks, Parks and Recreation Director with the City of Pocatello, says the previous software was difficult for patrons to navigate online and was also inefficient for staff to use, something that the new software will remedy.
“The program is much more powerful than our previous software,” said Banks. “With SportsMan’s increased capabilities, patrons will have a much more user friendly experience online and staff will appreciate the efficiency and ease of use with the new software.”
Due to the switch, patrons will be asked to create a new profile with the Parks and Recreation Department. Officials say the process takes about 15 minutes.
SportsMan will cost the City close to $6,500 yearly for the program for the first five years and then will decrease to roughly $4,700 yearly.
“Our old software was charging us $6,000 per year for their service but would retain a portion of the credit card fees,” Banks explains. “Combined, the cost was above the $6,493 we will be paying. The extra money we will be saving is just one way we are trying to keep costs down for patrons.”
Patrons with questions about the switch are asked to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 232-3901.
