When the third weekday flight from the Pocatello Regional Airport starts taking off in March, travelers will have over 100 more connecting opportunities at their disposal.
A recent study by the staff at the airport found that inbound and outbound connecting opportunities will increase by 111. A connecting opportunity is a flight that is available with a 30 minute to 3 hour layover.
“The increase in connecting opportunities is a huge benefit that comes from the addition of the third weekday flight,” said David Allen, Pocatello Regional Airport Manager. “Couple the now more than 300 connecting opportunities with the evenly distributed schedule and in terms of convenience and total cost, Pocatello is second to none.”
The Delta Connection service to Salt Lake City is operated by SkyWest Airlines. In March, weekday arrivals are scheduled for 11:58 a.m., 5:50 p.m., and 10:45 p.m. Departures takeoff at 7 a.m., 12:25 p.m., and 6:15 p.m. on weekdays. The airport will also offer twice daily service on weekends. Allen says the new flight increases available seats and weekly flights by nearly 50 percent. He also adds that while fares vary from flight to flight, they’re already hearing good things from travelers.
“One person who recently booked three flights out of Pocatello under the new schedule told us they were all reasonably priced; two of which were within $50 of what it would cost to fly from Salt Lake City. It just goes to show that it pays to check our schedule, compare the fares, take a look at the true costs of driving to Salt Lake City at iFlyPocatello.com, and see if we are right for you.”
