The deadline to register for the inaugural season of Boys Junior Jazz Basketball is fast approaching.
Signups for the 2016 season end December 16, 2015 and boys ranging from third grade through seventh grade are invited to participate. The cost is $40 per player and includes a reversible jersey, Utah Jazz team picture, participation certificate, and membership identification card. Participants are also offered a discounted ticket to a Jazz game.
“The Girls Jazz Basketball season is wrapping up and we’ve heard good things about the program from parents and coaches,” said Brian Lowman, Recreation Supervisor with the City of Pocatello Parks and Recreation Department. “They’ve especially liked the jersey that is now included in the registration fee. They say it’s been a relief not to have to go out and purchase the uniform.”
The switch to the National Basketball Association’s longest running youth basketball program was approved by the City Council in August. The league will serve about 1,000 children total. Games are set to begin February 2016.
Parks and Recreation is also looking for teams for its annual Adult Coed Volleyball league. Registration wraps up January 6, 2016 and is on a team basis. Teams are required to have a minimum of six players and the cost is $260 per team. The team fee covers a maximum of 10 players.
“Volleyball’s a great way to bond with family, friends, and co-workers,” said Lowman. “Whether you play competitively or just for fun, I’m sure you’ll have a good time.”
