With fall in the air, the City of Pocatello Sanitation department is gearing up to begin its leaf collection program.
This year, crews will be picking up leaves from Monday, November 9, 2015 to Friday, November 20, 2015 and for 2015 there are a few changes.
“We’re looking to help increase the efficiency of the Bannock County Landfill’s composting program,” said Debbie Brady, Recycling Coordinator for the City of Pocatello. “So, we will only be accepting leaves that have been placed in compostable bags. The bags can be purchased around the area at many of our local stores.”
Leaves that are left on the curb in plastic bags will not be collected and residents who are not using compostable bags for their leaves are asked to put their leaves in their regular trash autocart for disposal.
Residents who are part of the City’s yard waste collection program do not need to use compostable bags are asked to put the leaves directly in their yard waste autocart.
