The City of Pocatello Sanitation Department collects leaves and grass clippings annually for the compost site located at the Bannock County Landfill. In 2017, leaves will be picked up curbside from November 13–December 1 on the customers' regular garbage collection day.
Leaves and grass clippings must be placed in compostable bags (not boxes) and placed out for collection by 7 a.m. on the customers' regular garbage collection day. Compostable bags can be purchased at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, or Walmart. The leaves and grass in the compostable bags will be taken to the compost site. We encourage all residents to use both compostable bags and their City Compost Happens auto carts for leaf collection.
Please note that residents who have opted in the City's Compost Happens curbside composting program will receive collection services throughout the month of November on their regular garbage collection day and are required to use compostable bags for leaf overflow.
