About the Council
The Pocatello/Chubbuck Mayors' Youth Advisory Council is an advisory committee to the City Council on issues of importance to young people, to encourage civic pride, literacy, and responsibility among the area's young people, as well as to provide training opportunities and learning experiences for them regarding governance.
The Committee is composed of a maximum of 36 voting members chosen from students in the 9th through 12th grades. If possible, representatives shall be from each of the 5 high schools with no more than 40% from any 1 school. Members are appointed by the Mayor, contingent upon receipt of written consent of a parent or guardian, and subject to the approval of the City Council. Members serve until their date of graduation.
