About the Council


The Pocatello/Chubbuck Mayors' Youth Advisory Council is an advisory committee to the Mayors and City Councils on issues of importance to young people, to encourage civic pride, literacy, and responsibility among the area's young people, as well as to provide training opportunities and learning experiences for them regarding governance and leadership.

The Committee is composed of a maximum of 45 voting members. Members shall be from students within the Pocatello and Chubbuck cities, area home schooled students and area students enrolled in online academies. Equal representation from all schools is sought. Members are appointed by the Mayors, contingent upon receipt of written consent of a parent or guardian and 2 teacher recommendations. Members serve until their date of graduation.
