The Building Department consists of 3 full-time inspectors (building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical), 1 building official and 2 full-time support staff. The purpose of the Building Department is to ensure the safety of all buildings and structures in the City of Pocatello through administration and enforcement of codes and ordinances regarding new construction, remodeling, and abatement of dangerous buildings.
The department is also responsible for coordinating plan checks and
issuance of permits for all construction electrical, plumbing,
mechanical and gas installation, building demolitions, excavations,
signs, and sidewalks.

Promote building safety through code compliance, assist citizens,
contractors and design professionals in completing building projects,
enhance neighborhood quality of life and assure Pocatello is compliant
with state building code laws.
